BYD supplies high-efficiency solar panels for project

BRISTOL, R.I.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–NuGen Capital, a U.S. renewable energy investor and developer, announced today that it had completed several solar farm projects in Massachusetts totaling over 10 MWDC power. The four solar farms are located in the towns of Lunenburg, Whatley and Hadley, MA. These projects generate net metering credits from the facilities that will be made available to manufacturers, municipalities and universities in the area via their utility provider. BYD Company Ltd began delivering solar panels to the sites in January, 2014 and completed deliveries this Spring. While BYD has delivered over 2 GW of solar panels worldwide, these are the first BYD panels to be installed in the state of Massachusetts.

NuGen Capital will own and operate the sites. “It has been a pleasure to work with BYD America on these four solar projects,” said David Milner, CEO of NuGen Capital. “BYD is a company I have been watching for several years. They are 60% US owned and have China-based manufacturing – we have found their solar panels to be highly reliable and very cost competitive. As NuGen expands in the U.S. and abroad we look forward to working with BYD on future projects.”

“BYD has been delighted to work with NuGen Capital on some of the most innovative solar projects in Massachusetts and we appreciate their visionary leadership in the solar energy industry,” said Tom Zhao, General Manager of the BYD Solar team. “NuGen’s order of BYD modules represents the largest East Coast order in BYD’s history – we have a vision of a 100% domestic-energy and believe these solar resources bring us one step closer to that.”
